How can I even start… all the members of this family are literal angels. They’ll take care of you, show you around, make sure you’re never hungry, and give you the best possible experience. I was so lucky to meet them at the beginning of my trip; I ended up staying way longer than planned and even spent my birthday with them and we organised a trip together some time later. At this point, they’ve become family to me. Their property is located in a beautiful and tranquil area; if you like being close to nature and want an authentic Sri Lankan experience, this is the place. The rooms are well-kept and tidy, spacious, and cosy. There’s an adorable dog and lots of visiting animals, even parrots, who feed near the property’s gate every morning. Shamaylie, with the help of her daughters, cooks home made, healthy and very tasty meals, made from the local ingredients. The family will make sure that they offer you the food you like. I recommend to visit the Guesthouse regardless if you’re travelling solo or in a couple. You will always be treated with love, warmth, and generosity. Wik xx

OUR REVIEWS
🇵🇱
We only spent one night and one day at Piyal and his family but if we had known what was waiting for us and were not waiting the next day we would definitely have stayed a little longer. What you have to know is that Piyal has 1000 lives!! He is extremely communicative and loves to share his knowledge. It is difficult (impossible?) to remain insensitive to the personality of this man who seems to have found happiness and a sense of life. Together with his family they form a happy and extremely generous fratrie. It's a pleasure to exchange with them, in impeccable English!! Besides that, Piyal is a passionate guide who will share some of the most beautiful secrets on his island. He knows a lot and many people! If you want an amazing experience, do not hesitate, you can only fall in love with it! This should be a mandatory step in any Sri Lankan stay. A beautiful garden, a wonderful family, a delicious meal full of beautiful discoveries, what can we hope for better? :)
The friendliest hosts we've met in Sri Lanka. We stayed with Piyal, Pramod and their family for 3 days. They took really great care of us. Sapna cooked dinners and Lunches, Pramod took us to a turtle hatching place and a boat trip to see all the birds on the lagoon. He also offered to borrow his scooter, which we used, and drove us to our next accommodation in their family truck. Really friendly and helpful family taking great care of their guests.

I did a cooking class with Sapna and Piyal in November with my best friend, her mother and my boyfriend. It was just one of the best experience I had in Sri Lanka! We immediately felt like a part of their family and they did everything they could to please us. We got so many cooking advices but not only! We went to several markets to buy everything we wanted to cook, we did a tour of their garden with many medicinal plants... Piyal even suggested that we stay for the night in his guesthouse and he offered a boat tour at sunset which was magical ! The day after he also brought us to the turtle farm in his truck. If you are looking for a true experience close to the local people this is definitely the place you have to visit ! I asure you, you won't regret it, they are the nicest persons on earth ! And by the way, the food is amazing and you will fall in love with their little dog Calu 😁 Oh and I almost forgot to mention! We tried a Sari with Sapna and her mother, such a cute moment I will remember my whole life 🥰

We had a wonderful time in Sapna's cooking class! Everyone was so welcoming we felt like part of the family the moment we arrived. We visited the local market to buy fresh produce and Sapna walked us through making a variety of local dishes. It was delicious and we are looking forward to making it again when we get home. Thanks to you and your family for hosting us!

My friend and I would be warmly welcomed by Piyal and his family with a delicious fruity drink. We always had very good conversations and Piyal was not sparing any effort to show us around. He took us in his truck to a lagoon which we then navigated with friends of his in a small boat. Afterwards, he also arranged for us to visit the turtle sanctuary, even though it was already closed. After a great tour of his garden where he grows 17 different types of vegetables and fruits, which we were all allowed to try, we were invited to cook with his family. His daughter Sapna showed us how to prepare butter chicken (very tasty). The next morning, his son Pramod prepared a delicious breakfast for us and even climbed up a palm tree to spoil us with King coconuts. All in all, it was an unforgettable stay that we have never experienced before from all the other AirB&B's we have stayed in before. With Piyal, you don't just book a room, but also an unforgettable experience.

We had an amazing experience with Sapna and her wonderful family. They were so kind and welcoming, and instantly made us feel comfortable. The food was absolutely incredible — it wasn’t just a cooking class, it was a full experience of authentic Sri Lankan life, culture, and warmth. Sapna’s knowledge and insight made it truly special. We feel so lucky to have met them and know this won’t be the last time we stay in touch. Highly recommend to anyone looking for something real, personal, and unforgettable. Thank you so much!

We stayed at this new guesthouse for 9 nights and cannot rate it highly enough. If you are looking for a stay that encompasses the true gentleness of the Sri Lankans; a welcome into a beautiful, kind, friendly family who open their hearts to you; most comfortable and clean accommodation (the bed is great) with fans and air-conditioning; superb freshly cooked food for dinner (bookable in advance); lots to choose from at breakfast – the fresh local fruit is so sweet and the homemade juices are divine – then look no further. The Weerawardana Family will look after you, cater for your every need – nothing is too much for them. We had the joy of having the plunge pool just built for our stay – so a refreshing dip after returning from our trips or the beach was very welcome. The fruit trees and vegetable garden are plentiful with produce, and tropical flowers surround you. We experienced a Sri Lankan curry cookery lesson and the family sourced the herbs and spices for us to return to the UK with. We had a great trip on the Lagoon with a local family – the peace and quiet (other than the birds coming into roost!) and the sunset were spectacular. Thank you Piyal for welcoming us into your life;
